Most passenger-ship terminals in Yokohama are directly adjacent to the city’s most famous attractions, including Minato Mirai 21, Yokohama Chinatown, Yamashita Park and Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, so you can take in plenty of unforgettable experiences. Yokohama also offers superb access to nearby destinations such as Tokyo, Kamakura, Hakone and Tokyo Disney Resort, so adding a stay or day trip to explore nearby areas is definitely recommended.

All passengers and crew of cruise ships calling at the Port of Yokohama are welcome to join the Cruise Friendly Program. When you visit Program-member stores, restaurants and facilities near the port, simply present the Cruise Friendly map distributed to you at the passenger terminal.

The Kanagawa Systematized Goodwill Guide Club (KSGG) is a language volunteer group. KSGG was founded in March 1989 by 82 volunteer goodwill guides operating in Kanagawa Prefecture, with support from the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Kanagawa Prefecture, the Kanagawa Prefectural Tourism Organization and Yokohama City Visitors Bureau.
Under the motto ‘Those who can, when they can, what they can” KSGG members apply the linguistic abilities of each individual and a spirit of hospitality to welcome visitors in a wide range of activities.
In addition to assisting with international conferences and groups, KSGG accepts requests for guides through its website and offers guided tours to individuals.
If you are interested in KSGG’s guiding and interpreting services, simply inquire by filling out the request form on the KSGG website at the URL below. Requests must be received at least two weeks before your desired date. (Tours in Japanese are not available.)

Area around Yokohama Station
Yokohama Station is a Yokohama’s biggest transportation hub served by four JR lines, four private railway lines and one municipal subway line. Providing excellent access to sites around the city, Yokohama Station is used by large numbers of commuters and tourists from nearby cities.
The station building stands in the very heart of Yokohama, close to numerous shopping and entertainment venues. -
Minato Mirai 21
The Yokohama Bay area is dotted with many of Yokohama’s best-loved tourist attractions, including Yokohama Landmark Tower, a 296m skyscraper; Cosmo Clock 21, a gigantic Ferris wheel; Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse and much more. This modern metropolis is home to everything from quiet art galleries to shopping malls, office buildings and luxury hotels.

Motomachi and Yamate
Yamate (“the Bluff”) is filled with streetscapes that recall its heritage as a “foreigners’ quarter,” with sites such as the seiyokan (pre-war Western-style houses) and the foreigners’ cemetery. Descend from the hill and you can enjoy an area called Motomachi Shopping Street, original home of the Hamatora fashion trend.

Chinatown, Kannai and Yamashita Park
Yokohama Chinatown, one of the largest Chinatowns in the world, as well as seaside attractions such as Yokohama Marine Tower and Yamashita Park, are just some of the attractions in this part of the city, etched with the history of the opening of the port of Yokohama to international trade.

Kanazawa, Honmoku and Negishi
These districts feature historic spots such as Sankeien garden and Shomyoji temple, where you can view historic buildings and elegant Japanese gardens.
They also offer fun attractions for the whole family to enjoy, such as Yokohama Hakkeijima Seaparadise and Kanazawa Zoo. -
Shin-Yokohama
With a station on the Tokaido Shinkansen, this area is the gateway to Yokohama. This new city center lists among its attractions Nissan Stadium, site of the 2002 FIFA World Cup and the finals of the 2019 Rugby World Cup, as well as Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, hallowed ground to devotees of Japan’s iconic noodle soup.
