Most people may have the image of Yokohama city as what it looks like around Yokohama Station and Minato Mirai 21, a futuristic city full of skyscrapers. However, Yamashita Park, a place of relaxation for Yokohama citizens, and Harbor View Park, where you can see the city harbor, are full of flowers and greenery. Yokohama is a city where you can enjoy beautiful flowers each season, and as a city it promotes the nurturing of natural environment under the name of “Garden City Yokohama”.
When thinking of spring flowers, your first thought might be the "sakura", but in spring you can enjoy a wide variety of flowers other than cherry blossoms. Take your camera with you when going out and take pictures of the different flowers blooming in each area of Yokohama city, such as hydrangeas and lotus in summer, autumn roses and cosmos in autumn and winter.
