The Bashamichi Festival will be held in Yokohama’s Bashamichi Shopping Street from Saturday, October 31 to Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (National Holiday).
Bashamichi is a historic street where many aspects of Western culture were first introduced to Japan, including gas streetlights, roadside trees, and ice cream. Today, various festivals and events are held each year to celebrate and preserve this rich history.
During the Bashamichi Festival, horse-drawn carriages, rickshaws, and women dressed in elegant costumes inspired by the Rokumeikan era of the 1880s parade along the street.
