Outstanding Turkish cuisine
Just around the corner from Yokohama Stadium sits a cozy Turkish restaurant, New Ali Baba. Covered in beautiful Turkish tiles and mirrors, the delightful little joint has been offering equally delightful and authentic dishes at this corner since 1993. Cooking together in the kitchen is a Turkish couple from Istanbul; Ali cooks specialized Turkish dishes whereas his wife creates fantastic home-style Turkish meals. As owner and chef for 6 years, Ali also charms his clients at the table, answering questions about the menu and providing great suggestions for the next dishes. Anything with the "bread" is heavenly here; dishes not to be missed are "Ispanak pide (Turkish spinach pizza)" and "Ekmek (Turkish bread)". Served warm and fluffy, the savory homemade bread puts a smile on anyone's face whether dipped in homemade hummus, "Acili domates ezme (tomato dip)" or on its own. Also recommended are the lamb dishes made with Japanese halal lamb raised by Muslim ranchers in Gunma prefecture! Note: There is a belly dancing show every Wednesday and Friday from 20:00.
