They have taken it even one step further by installing a distillery and producing their own signature gin inhouse – a rare feature in any bar or restaurant. The restaurant is welcoming with great staff and a chill atmosphere, and guests can sit outside on the patio or inside on one of its two floors. On warm days the second-floor windows are left open, creating a wonderful ocean breeze while you dine.

With shops specializing in Sapporo-style, Hakata, special Yokohama ramen and more, the ramen food hall is a fantastic place to visit for anyone who loves ramen, but doesn’t have the time to travel from Hokkaido to Kyushu and back again. The seafood ramen was especially delicious with a rich soup and a beautifully strong flavor – a great ramen dish to enjoy by the sea.

For those who love the taste of green tea, but Kyoto is just too far away, Hammerhead has the next best thing – an authentic green tea store. Here the water is boiled in a traditional kettle, giving the green tea an authentic taste. There is also an abundance of different products you can sample at this store, including snacks, ice cream and other treats. The green tea ice cream was particularly delicious, and was the perfect pairing with the rich green tea. A dreamscape for anyone who loves Japanese green tea.

The concept of Hammerhead is simple – a stylish factory. Hammerhead focuses more on the production element than the aesthetic. From delicious Yokohama cakes and other snacks, you can watch your favorite omiyage being made right in front of your eyes, and have the chance to taste the freshest sweets and cake. From bean to bar, the chocolate-making store has embraced this concept, featuring giant bean roasters and other machinery, allowing for customers to watch the entire process of chocolate creation. From the start of 2020, a further evolution in the process with customers being able to watch how chocolate is made and sample the freshest chocolate, and also customize their own chocolate bars at the innovative chocolate store.

Visitors are also able to view the whole of the city, the comings and goings of the international cruises and the sightseeing boats that travels its waters. It’s a scenic place to sit back and relax any time of year. Yokohama Bay is fully visible from Hammerhead’s walkways and from inside its many restaurants. Although currently under construction, a new walkway is being created from Hammerhead itself to provide a nice close view of the sea. Although the winter winds can be a little biting, the summer heat makes the bay a picturesque location to escape the summer heat.
