The New Cruise Terminal Complex "Yokohama Hammerhead" opening in October 2019!
The Port of Yokohama has served as a gateway to the greater Tokyo area and has welcomed countless cruise ships since its opening in 1859 as Japan's first modern international trading port.
Since then, it has grown rapidly, and now Yokohama is one of the leading world class cruise port in Japan. It is expecting 190 cruise calls for 2019, up 25 percent over 2018.
To answer the needs for the growing number of cruise calls, the new cruise terminal complex "Yokohama Hammerhead" will make its debut in October 2019. The core facility of the complex is an international cruise terminal, "Shinko Pier Cruise Terminal," which can hold a large-scale cruise ship up to 116,000 tons. It's first cruise ship to dock is scheduled to be "Diamond Princess" on November 4th, 2019.
Apart from the international cruise terminal, the new complex is organized with a luxury hotel, "InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8," interactive shopping mall, "Hammerhead Shop & Restaurant," and the Hammerhead Park.
The hotel "InterContinental Yokohama Pier 8," holds 173 hotel rooms with restaurants, bar, banquet rooms, spa, gym, and a roof-top open space.
The interactive shopping mall "Hammerhead Shop & Restaurant," holds 25 shops and restaurants including restaurants with superb view, tea-rooms, sweets factory, ramen shops, and more with the concept "THE FACTORY".
