As part of their Hakata style, Takao serves tempura one by one for maximum freshness, and diners are encouraged to enjoy side dishes with rice while waiting for their next piece. Notably, Takao offers all-you-can-eat mentaiko (spicy cod roe)—a Hakata specialty—with kombu kelp,and homemade as azuke (Japanese pickles), as well as free refills on oolong tea.
