NIPPON MARU is to be designated as a National Important Cultural Property

Sail Training Ship NIPPON MARU is to be designated as a National Important Cultural Property!

NIPPON MARU was built in 1930 as a training ship for cadets. The ship brought up 11,500 cadets for 54 years until her retirement as a training ship in 1984. Now moored in Yokohama’s Minato Mira 21 area, she is open to public to read about her history, and see what life on a ship is really like. To commemorate this designation, NIPPN MARU & Yokohama Port Museum will be admission free on Mar. 20th(Mon.). There will also be a Full-sail Exhibition and commemoration concert scheduled on April 16th(Sun.).
