Tsuzuki Minka-en "Tea ceremony lessons for foreigners"
Special tea ceremony lessons for foreigners is scheduled on October 5th at Tsuzuki Minka-en (Folk House Garden) tearoom.
Please apply by completing the application form at the website below by September 28.
<Date & Time> October 5, 2019 (Saturday) from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM
<Location> Tsuzuki Minka-en Tearoom (Address: 2 Odana-nishi, Tsuzuki Ward, Yokohama.)
-Foreigners living in Tsuzuki Ward who are studying or working and their families and friends are welcome too.
-Foreigners visiting Yokohama City for sightseeing.
＊You may also bring your children to the classes.
<Class size> Approximately 15 people (first-come-first-served basis)
<Course fee> Adults 2,000 yen per person, Children (5 to 12 years old)1,000 yen per person
<What to bring> White socks and handkerchief

・Volunteer English interpreters will be available
・It is not necessary to sit in formal Japanese style for the class. Only when drinking tea or eating sweets , it is necessary to sit formally on your knee.
・Please remove watches, rings, and necklaces and do not wear strong smelling perfume.
・If you wish, we will also give you a tour of “Tsuzuki Minka-en,” the old Japanese-style house on the premises.
・If you cancel on the day of the class, a fee of 500 yen per person will be charged.

① Introduction, personal belongings, things not permitted to wear in class, personal appearance
② How to walk, sit, and greet others in the tea room
③ How to use the stone wash basin (Tsukubai)
④ Learn the thin tea ceremony
⑤ How to eat sweets, drink thin tea, observe the tea cup
⑥ How to stir with a bamboo whisk
⑦ Conclusion, tea and the Japanese tea customs
