Miyagawa Kozan Makuzu Ware Museum
Makuzu ware was called “pride of Japan” at the Philadelphia World’s Fair in the 19th century. Miyagawa Kozan, who introduced Makuzu ware to the world, is a well-known ceramic artist associated with Yokohama city.
The essence of Makuzu ware, which was loved by the Vanderbilts, can be experienced through an exclusively guided tour by the owner-collector(negotiable), Mr. Yamamoto, which leads to the essence of luxury art experiences in Yokohama.
In addition to the Makuzu wares in his collection, the museum also provides your clients with art tourism that is also very interesting in terms of historical research, such as information on the Makuzu ware depicted in the Vanderbilt family living room paintings, which are not known outside the museum, and/or information on Makuzu ware introduced by Eliza Scidmore in Harper’s Weekly magazine, etc. It is no exaggeration to say that Yokohama has this kind of fundamental power as a historical archive. Travel designers should not miss this information.
